Tweet this!

We're currently investigating for a couple of clients the best way for a user to post a Tweet via a link or button on their website .

I've come to the conclusion that a simple 'Tweet This' button can do this by posting an automatically generated update via a user'sr Twitter account, removing the need for them to type the whole message.

What benefit can this provide?

Well, it could help promote news and updates on you site, by making it easier for users to tell their friends what they are reading or find interesting.

Econsultancy do something similar and it means I share a lot more of their stuff than being bothered to do the (albeit not very lengthy) manual process.

People are lazy and seek the simplest solutions, so unless one can change the world, it pays to find these simple routes.

Yes, I agree, the simpler you make the decision / action the more likely it is that someone does it. This is probably why web usability professionals are in such demand at the moment [grin]
The old motto from Steve Krug still holds true in the Web2.0 world
